The incident began in 2018 when deer caused damage to the arborvitae trees in the family’s yard. As they prepared to replace the damaged trees, James and his family noticed something unusual between the trees on the east side of the yard. What they initially thought was an electric box turned out to be something much more perplexing.
In May 2018, landscapers were brought in to install deer-resistant bamboo trees and, in the process, remove the damaged trees and access the enigmatic metal box. To their astonishment, the metal box was not an ordinary electrical fixture; it was the entrance to a massive hornet’s nest.
